Royal Caribbean International has honoured the crew and project team of the new Harmony of the Seas at a traditional delivery and flag changing ceremony in Saint Nazaire, France. Following 32 months of construction at the STX France shipyard involving thousands of shipyard employees, sub-contractors and suppliers, the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship is now home to 2,100 crew members from 77 different nationalities.

DUBAI WORLD CENTRAL REPORTS SPIKE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC
Passenger traffic at Dubai World Central surged 79.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 according to the quarterly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. Dubai’s second airport welcomed 257,813 passengers during the first three months of the year, an increase of 79.8 per cent compared to 143,374 in the corresponding period in 2015. See more...

LATAM REPORTS INCREASE IN PROFITS FOR FIRST QUARTER
LATAM Airlines Group has reported an operating margin of 9.4 per cent for first quarter 2016, an improvement of 1.3 per cent over the same quarter in 2015, and net income of US$102 million, a US$142 million improvement over the first quarter 2015. The improvement in operating results was driven by a 17.8 per cent drop in operating expenses in the three months to March 31st, resulting from lower fuel prices, local currency devaluations and ongoing efficiency initiatives. American Airlines has appointed Thomas Scruby as commercial director of Hong Kong and offline markets (Macau, Taiwan, Southern China and South East Asia). DFDS SEAWAYS BREAKS RECORDS ON CHANNEL CROSSING
DFDS recorded a record month for freight on its Dover to France routes in March, carrying more than 110,000 vehicles for the first time. The company reached the milestone following the introduction of two new ships, the Cotes des Dunes and the Cotes des Flandres, on its Dover-Calais service to provide 15 daily departures each way on the route. BRITISH AIRWAYS ADDS DIRECT MIDDLE EAST SERVICES
British Airways customers will soon be able to experience uninterrupted, direct flights to Doha and Muscat from Heathrow Terminal 5. Previously, customers flying to the Middle Eastern cities had to stop off in Bahrain en route Doha and Abu Dhabi en route to Muscat, but from October 30th both services will fly direct, reducing the journey time to both cities by approximately two hours.
